The Spiritual Root Cause of Business Blocks

In coaching more than 500 leaders, I've seen how many blocks to a vision have a spiritual root cause. They show up in two places, and each one asks for something different.

In nearly 20 years of helping entrepreneurs launch and grow mission-driven organizations, and coaching more than 500 leaders, I've noticed one common theme: strategy is easy.

Most of the founders I work with already know what to do next. They've read the books and hired the advisors. Plenty of them could teach the strategy themselves. They have years of lived experience.

And still, inevitably, something gets in the way.

Over time I realized there's a spiritual root cause to so many of the blocks people have around actualizing their vision. It shows up in one of two places. Either the leader can't access the vision clearly enough to take the next best action, or the vision is clear and won't materialize at all, because the resources it needs aren't being magnetized toward it.

Discerning which one you're in changes the prescription and the solution.

When you can't see the vision clearly

The first block likely lives in the leader as a human.

From the outside, it can look like indecision. From the inside, it feels like fog. You sit down to think about the next three years and your mind slides off the question. Or you can't even connect to the part of you that brainstorms new possibilities. Perhaps you start a plan or chain of thought, but can't continue it. You may even be tempted to ask for outside advice, and allow those voices to drown out your own.

I see this most in leaders who have lost connection to their intuition, the inner compass that guides them down the best path for them. Once that connection goes, they quickly succumb to the outside world: overstimulated, overwhelmed, overscheduled and overextended. They run on this treadmill until Life forces them to stop.

A founder came to me last year saying he felt blocked in his business vision. He began receiving monthly healings from me.

Within three months of that conversation, he got enough clarity on his message to author a book, which led to a publishing deal, investment in a new business and multiple speaking opportunities.

(Correlation does not imply causation, AND, I don't believe in coincidences.)

What cleared for him was the fog around his message. The vision had been there all along, under the noise.

Once his vision cleared up, the next steps unfolded quickly and naturally.

When the vision is clear and won't materialize

The second block may live in the business itself.

You know what you're building, and you can describe it in a sentence. The work is getting done. And the right clients, team members, money and timing keep missing you. The wrong-fit people show up instead, and the business stays stuck at a level you outgrew a while ago. Or worse, it starts to slowly yet perceptibly decline.

One of my healing clients was frustrated about the lack of progress in her business. I did a personal and business healing for her. When I checked in on her two days later, she said she'd woken up with a burst of clarity on everything she'd been avoiding.

She spent that weekend looking at the numbers. The next week, she terminated an underperforming agency, and a team member she had wanted to let go of for months. She took the following weekend away and got clear on the vision and mission for her life and business. She's rebuilding now, and she says she's more fired up than she has been in years.

The personal healing brought clarity back to her. The business healing supported the wrong-fit relationships falling away, which is what made room for the right ones. In both cases, the healing sparked intentional, aligned action. That's the ultimate goal of a results-oriented healing. Action.

How to tell which block you're in

Ask yourself one question: if someone asked you today what you're building and why, could you answer in two sentences without hesitating?

If the answer comes slowly, or it sounds like someone else's words, start with the vision. Spend time in prayer or meditation this week on your mission and what you're here to do, and write down what you receive. Protect that time from outside input. For more on why that part stays yours, read don't delegate your discernment.

If the answer comes fast and clear, look at what's arriving. Notice which clients, partners, ideas, and opportunities have shown up in the last 90 days, and which ones have fallen away. A pattern of wrong-fit arrivals points to the business. Wrong-fit clients falling away goes deeper on that one.

Many leaders find a bit of both. That's normal, and it's why I so frequently work on the owner and the business together with complementary healings.

What a healing supports

A healing removes unseen blocks, barriers, and negativity. It restores the energy of unconditional love, the most potent and abundant force on the planet.

Strategy still matters, as does teamwork and execution. A healing ensures they all happen with integrity.

If you've never had a healing, spiritual healing for leaders explains what to expect, and alignment is the hard part explains why I think strategy rarely is the root cause.
